The LOOK study was initally funded by the Commonwealth Education Trust www.cet1886.org from 2004 to 2009. In order to provide a long term future for the study the Commonwealth Education Trust gifted the project to the Australian National University at the end of 2009. The study is now based at the Australian National University (Medical Faculty and Department of Psychology) and the Canberra Hospital (which is the clinical practice arm of the ANU Medical Faculty).
The project is directed by Professor Richard Telford AM, formerly of the Australian Institute of Sport and is based in Canberra, Australia. The research team is made up of researchers from various Australian institutions and universities. The LOOK study is coordinated by database manager and researcher Rohan Telford, and psychology researcher Lisa Olive from the ANU. Statistical analysis is overseen by LOOK statistician Professor Ross Cunningham of the ANU. LOOK is advised by senior academics, policy experts and scientists who form our advisory board.
Funding to continue the LOOK study in 2013 was achieved by the Canberra Hospital Clinical Trials Unit headed by cardiologist Professor Walter Abhayaratna.
Ongoing support for the study is provided by the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise (UCRISE) at the University of Canberra.
