Movement Control |

The questions : What are the relationships between(a) enhanced physical education(b) the level of physical activity and body awareness and movement control? It is reasonable to assume that participation in sport and physical recreation is enhanced in those who really enjoy the experience. It can be argued that as a child's movement appreciation and skill progresses then so will enjoyment. Therefore, given the potential preventive medicine of physical activity, we are exploring the link between movement skills and health. This area examines the influence of movement education through primary school on movement characteristics, including static and dynamic postural control and balance, eye-hand coordination and perceptual awareness in relation to movement. A battery of motor control assessment procedures constitutes this section of work. These include a "wobble board" balance test, a ball skill test, and the "rod and frame" test of perceptual awareness in relation to a movement task. |
