LOOK is a Commonwealth Education Trust initiative.

Organisation and Objects

The Commonwealth Education Trust (Charity Number 1119647 Registered in England and Wales) is the successor trust to the Commonwealth Institute. It has been established to ensure that the assets of the Commonwealth Institute are protected and are applied in a manner that is congruent with the purposes of the original Trust which has it origins in the donations first made by individual citizens of the now Commonwealth to the Prince of Wales in 1886 in celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria.

The Deed of Trust of the Commonwealth Education Trust provides that:
  • four UK resident private citizens are to be the Trustees
  • three High Commissioners will hold office as Advisory Trustees, being the High Commissioners representing the Chairperson in office of the Commonwealth, the immediate past Chairperson and the Chairperson elect, all of whom will be expressed to be acting on behalf of their Governments in their Commonwealth role.
  • there shall be a Commonwealth Council of those countries who are members of the Commonwealth. The countries will be represented in meetings of the Council by their appropriate representatives whose role it is to put forward the views of their country. The Commonwealth Council shall be chaired by the Secretary General of the Commonwealth
  • the Objects of the Trust are to advance education in The Commonwealth of Nations
